While some engage in twisted schemes to make money, others turn to legal but unconventional means. The money-making schemes that we’ll explore here may seem ridiculous and not something that you would ever do, but just remember that they all worked. 1. Selling Weird Items on the Internet There’s no denying that you can find almost anything being sold on the internet. That includes some of the most quirky and unusual items for which people pay big bucks. How much would you spend on Irish dirt? Well Irishman Pat Burke thought there was a market when he sold dirt online. Sites such as eBay are rife with haunted items for those who crave paranormal products. Let’s not forget Alex Tew, the twenty-one-year-old who created a website of a million pixels and sold each pixel at one dollar to businesses for advertising online. Almost anything sells nowadays. 2. Asking for Money Online Karyn Bosna, a thirty-year-old talk show producer in New York had a spending habit that got her to max out her $20,000 credit card. When she lost her job in 2002, she had no way of paying that huge debt. She made a plea on the internet. Bosna began SaveKaryn.com where she appealed to generous donors to help her raise money to clear her debt. She proved all the naysayers wrong when within twenty weeks she was debt free. People continue to use social media to ask for financial assistance to meet various goals. While some may be genuine, there are always schemers who are looking to prey on the generous hearts of individuals just to make a quick buck. 3. Begging for a High-Paying Job on the Street We are familiar with persons on the street corners who ask for money but asking for a job has proven not to be so far-fetched.  Even though some people were shocked to find a well-dressed man strolling the streets of Denver pleading for work, this tactic has worked on a few instances. Dianez Smith for instance, stood on the side of a packed street in Washington DC during rush hour with a sign asking for a job and secured employment as a legal assistant.    4. Pretending to be Homeless No one wants to be on the streets without somewhere to call home. Well, that’s unless you’re pretending to win sympathy points from unsuspecting passersby who will then stretch a hand out with some money. Well, some con-artists don’t mind panhandling on the streets to get ahead. There are some people whose day jobs are to be on the street corners looking the part while they’re sitting comfortably at home at night checking their daily earnings. It’s sad, because there are genuine people out there who are actually homeless and struggle daily to cope.    5. Human Billboard Advertising In June 2005, Karolyne Smith of Utah auctioned off her forehead as advertising space. She was paid $15,000 to tattoo the name of a casino website on her forehead. This lady who got her face inked for profit was for a while called the Golden Palace Forehead girl after the name of the casino. Well this sort of advertising isn’t as uncommon as you think. Human directionals don’t only have advertisements tattooed to their bodies. They wear advertisements as clothing, or hold or wear an advertisement sign.
